About
neur.ro collects principles, methods, procedures and mental models from psychology. Each entry briefly explains what the concept says, gives an example, shows how you can apply it and where its limits are.
Each entry states where the concept comes from (a study, a book or a practice) and lists its sources.
Level of evidence
Each entry also has a label that says, in short, how well research supports it. It is our judgement based on the cited sources, not an official score; the details are in each entry's "Limits and nuances" section.
- strong: the effect has been confirmed by meta-analyses or large replications, even if it is sometimes smaller than in the original study;
- supported: several studies point the same way, but without large replications or with important method limits;
- contested: the results are mixed, or their interpretation is actively disputed in the literature;
- not directly tested: the idea comes from a book or from practice and has not been tested empirically in the form presented.
